A celebration of place, people and stories, Rare Earth Retreats is the result of collaboration between South Australian artists and creatives. Through the intentional balance of materials, textures and finishes, each retreat tells a different story of their surrounding environment. Recently, we had the absolute privilege of staying in Slate. On arrival we were greeted by the rolling hills of Mclaren Vale wine country, the retreat set among the vines, commanding attention, but setting the tone for a slow stay. Rise slow, as the sun rises over the hills pour yourself a warm lemon water, or coffee, and enjoy from bed. Read a few pages of your current book, sip, bask in the gentleness of the early morning. You're off grid here, no wifi, no TV, take five.
A whole foods breakfast paves the way for a ritualistic day. Provided by Rare Earth Retreats; enjoy local eggs, butter, bread, and avocado. The first meal of the day isn't designed to be rushed, but rather, savoured.
Day, or night, run yourself a warm bath and pour a local wine. Take some deep breaths, the space invites you to unwind.
Tip: Enjoy on sunset, as the moon rises and the colours of the sky move through a spectrum of orange, and pink, hues.
Spend some time exploring the local area.
